Got a call from Phill around 4 or 4:30, mentioning that a) he was in town for the evening (on his way from Corpus Christi, TX to Newport, RI), and b) he had a gift for me from Tucker. So, on my bike and away I went. Had plenty of conversation with Phill and his parents, got invited to dinner--which my mom figured I would, and the ensuing phone conversation amused the Smiths muchly--etc. Talked about the job search, security clearances, movies, books--Phill has a copy of the complete Chronicles of Narnia, which place The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe -second- in the series, at C.S. Lewis's request--music, finances, travel, and various random stuff. Dinner was good, coffee was good, observing Phill IM various people (including Beth McC and Shauna) was very entertaining, and the ride back was chilly (it's about 46 out) but not uncomfortably so. I ♥ my motorcycle jacket. :)
The gift from Tucker--identical to the one Phill got--was a kickass mix CD entitled "Party of One", interspersing an eclectic selection of music with sound clips from Sam and Max Hit the Road. It's great, and so very Tucker. :)
PARTY OF ONE
is the first mass-release mix I’ve made in over three years. In that time I’ve been through three apartments and five jobs. I’ve also acquired two cats and another shelf full of books. Clearly, it’s time for another go at inflicting my musical taste on the world.
The title refers to a line from an unknown sitcom: "Hello, bitter party, your table is ready. Bitter, party of one." (How many bitter men does it take to change a light bulb? We don’t care, and if you try we’ll just throw the lamp against the wall again.) The spoken word bits are from the classic LucasArts adventure game Sam and Max Hit the Road. The cover image is "The False Mirror" by Rene Magritte. It's substantially more impressive in colour. The title font is called Crackman, and was designed by Ray Larabie.
Party of One is another fine product of Tucker Enterprises, Ltd.
