Around 2000 last night, suited up Secret Service style (complete with black tie borrowed from Nathan, earpiece, and my sidearm from Halloween), headed over to my storage locker where I realized my nice wool coat wasn't--I'm pretty sure it's still in my parents' closet--and drove off to Metro anyway. (I'd later regret this lack of coat.) Stopped along the way to Metro to pick up a bottle of Mickey Finn's Vanilla & Butterscotch schnapps. Mmm. Walked to Nyk and Bagel's house with little difficulty, a bit chilly, and let myself in.

Party was entertaining--a series of movies with no sound on the wide-screen TV, music from another room, drinks in the kitchen, beers out back, and assorted people everywhere, varying throughout the night as people came and went from clubs and homes. Spent a bit of time with the delectable Jessie ([livejournal.com profile] faeriemage) and her guarded bottle of Boone's Melon Ball, and more than a bit of time with the delightful Stefanie ([livejournal.com profile] xspookykittyx), while watching Equilibrium, Animatrix, goth porn, artsy porn, and the antics of drunken revelers. Ohh, the antics. Also, fending off this guy who just didn't know when to shut up, on any number of topics.

Around 0515, under the impression that Metro might Open its Doors at 0530, Stefanie and I walked to the Metro station, and waited.. and waited.. and got colder, and hungrier.. and waited.. until it finally opened after 07, after we'd contemplated a) returning to Bagel's, or b) taking a bus just to get warm. Posted hours outside would've been nice. :P Metroed back to my truck at Springfield, napping on the way, and then I drove her home (about 15min from my house) and returned home myself, and shortly to bed.

As I slept until about 1500, not much to report, except that the world is against Nathan catching up on lost hours of work over the weekend--last weekend it was an issue with a computer security log, this weekend it was a bad badge scanner! (And I'm glad my hours aren't logged--I'm salaried, I do what work has to be done, and if that "nothing" or "a bit of paperwork from home," so be it. :D)

Edit: Oops! [livejournal.com profile] xspookykittyx, not [livejournal.com profile] spookykitty.

[livejournal.com profile] kadooshka: "My journal is called Donaudampfschifffahrtsgesellschaftskapitänskajütentürschlüsselloch because it's a silly long German word, the equivalent of antidisestablishmentarianism in English. It means "the keyhole in the door of the captain's cabin in a vessel of the Danube steam boat company". And it's just one word. Yay for German!!"

[livejournal.com profile] visgoth on geocaching:
Right. Because terrorists want to blow up your podunk town's ice cream shop and toy train.

Police defense? If you cannot guarantee 100% safety, it is perfectly reasonable to live in fear.
