The intro movie for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is awesome. (Link from Penny Arcade. (And there's a single-player demo of the game available, too.)

Wow. [livejournal.com profile] typhanie reports on the widespread tornado damage in VA yesterday evening, and her run-in with one. [News from WUSAtv9.com, first local site that came to mind.] Fortunately, it just got ominously grey and windy with heavy rains here in Lorton, though the whole Fairfax County area was under Warning most of the evening.

CNN's picked up the Kryptonite lock vulnerability story.

Sadly, the delightfully entertaining comic Bite Me! by [livejournal.com profile] covielle has come to a close. However, in her conclusion she linked to Return to Sender, which is quite entertaining in its own right, and the archives didn't take long to read. :)

Also, I'm passing on Shauna's recommendation of Fallen, having read all of part 1, with 2 and 3 yet to read, because the art is gorgeous and the storyline intriguing.

Well, that was certainly one of the cooler, more coherent dreams I've had in a while.

I was part of an oceanographic expedition, out in the Atlantic. There were about 10 or 15 people on the team, including the woman who was running the trip. Our post was a smallish concrete platform with a stout wooden shack; I don't actually know how we got out to it nor what exactly we were planning to do. However, we prepared anyhow, donning bright yellow drysuits, with helmets resembling full-face motorcycle helmets and an arguably watertight seal with the neck. The helmets attached to the suit at the back, so they wouldn't be lost if they were knocked off. The suits also featured two lights, one blue, one almost-red pink. (While suiting up, there was some debate over the intent of the light color.)

And then, the waves suddenly picked up, though it wasn't storming. For one wave, at least 50' high, I was floating away from the platform, and I was carried over the crest. First it got better, then it got worse. )

For all the tornadoes that touched down in the DC/VA/MD area last night, including the friends who saw them, no damage here, just residual high winds.

So I shall venture out into the wind a bit later, to return Misty and Chris's ferrets to their new house in Leesburg; tonight, party at [livejournal.com profile] partywhipple's! At this party, I will know one person, recognize the host, and meet all the rest. :)

Tomorrow evening, I fly from Dulles to Denver for a week of training. I don't think any of y'all are in the Denver area, but if I'm wrong, let me know. :)
