No, I caught up before sleep, so you get the political links and a wonderful non-political rant.

[livejournal.com profile] kitiara, here, on the proposal of allowing FedGov to reschedule or cancel elections, which LocalGovs already have the power to do, and why this must not come to pass. Includes [livejournal.com profile] visgoth's comment:
"I can almost promise you that if any such legislation is passed, it will have vague wording about postponing elections 'until the crisis has passed.' If you think that doesn't mean anything, answer this: When is the last time you remember the Homeland Security Alert status being green?"

[livejournal.com profile] cheshirrrecat, on the upcoming Federal Discrimination Marriage Amendment, and petition at MoveOn.org to help block it, here.

From [livejournal.com profile] lanikei, in much less critical news, new DUI Laws May Jail Thousands in VA.

And finally, via [livejournal.com profile] kelwyn, a wonderful rant by Philip Pullman, here. One paragraph in particular:
I'm not going to argue about this: I'm right. Children need art and music and literature, they need to go to art galleries and museums and theatres, they need to learn how to play musical instruments and to act and to dance. They need these things so much that human rights legislation alone should ensure that they get them.

And humor! Via [livejournal.com profile] yoopie, That Time of Year, by Leomard Sportsinterviews Strong Bad. Hehe. :D

Career fair #5 in three weeks, at the Tyson's Corner Mariott.
Results:
  • Just missed a good window with BEI Systems (who makes control sensors)
  • Good match with some of Swales Aerospace's programs (nav, guidance, control), but don't know if anything will come of it.
  • Ridiculously positive response from ADIC, which I'll probably go into detail about later. :D

Nathan had quite a positive response from most of the companies he talked to--at least 20--and has one interview lined up already. (He's in IT/programming, though, with 3 years experience.)

But right now, off to Christine's instead of going into the above details. :)
