Went out with Nathan around 1815 in order to be early at the Hard Times Cafe & Santa Fe Cue Club, where he'd organized his own birthday get-together; we were there around 1830 and thus had to wait around half an hour for other people to arrive and for our waitress and tables to be ready. Played a couple of those bar-side video games while we waited.
First to arrive were Mo and Tony, followed by Mike Hedrick, and later Nathan's dad, sister (Cassie) and brother-in-law (Mark), plus a coworker (Diane) and another friend (Dave) later. We had two tables, played plenty of games, had a few drinks and food, and a good time was had by all. Unfortunately, Mike had to head out around 2000 to meet his girlfriend--unfortunate because we were having a good conversation, and he didn't actually want to leave. :) Eventually it was down to Nathan, Cassie, Mark, Dave and I, one table, and several more games of 8- and 9-ball, and we bailed around 2330.
I played several good games and several bad ones; I think my technique was improving, and I beat Nathan's dad once! (Safe to say that Nathan's dad was the best player there, except that round. :)
jiveturky recounts The single greatest event of his life. A ponytailed man standing next to us confirmed the event, saying, "I do believe the President of the U.S. just gave you boys the finger."
Hehehe. :D
