Last night, Nathan coerced me into helping his friend move her stuff out of Nathan's and my shared storage locker, under the logic that I had the rest of the day to work on my truck, which seemed reasonable. Of course, I found when I got there that I was also helping unload furniture in Arlington, so I didn't actually head out to Manassas until about 1. :P
Stopped by Pep Boys, who had some fan clutch wrenches on their loaner sheet, but had none in stock. Across town at AutoZone, they had what appeared to be the same wrenches I borrowed in Ithaca a couple years ago, though they were marked for a 4.9L engine rather than my 2.9L.
With my dad's help and guidance, I replaced my truck's water pump with minimal difficulty; of the pair of wrenches, one was big enough that it wasn't useful; the other still came in handy later. In the course of this work we had to borrow a large wrench from our neighbor (who owns two old-style hot rods), who now has a two pocket bikes and two mini-choppers for his kids. Awesome. :)
Had a hefeweizen and pretzels for late lunch; Shauna later came home toting two sixes of Guinness Stout that a friend had to spare--dad and I each had one of those later during dinner, which was some damn fine steak that mom grilled. :)
While I was driving to Manassas, Mo&Tony called Nathan, who called my parents' and left a message with my dad, who called my cell from his cell after he left the house, whereupon I called back his cell, then his pager; he called me back from the house to my cell, and I got home a few minutes later to deal with the message. Convoluted, eh? Anyway, Mo & Tony (who will shortly be moving from Maryland to Alexandria) invited me to join them at Jeff Firestone's house tomorrow at 7; at 8, Lion in Winter will be airing on Bravo. Huzzah for the old Shakespeare Troupe folks!
Stopped by AutoZone to return the loaner tool--even though I managed to misplace the receipt which I could've sworn I put in the box--around 9:30, called home to verify which direction to take 28 toward home, and here I be. (Incidentally, people along that route don't seem to know how to accelerate, and the pair of motorcyclists riding at night in shorts and t-shirts on the bike with no functional rear lighting are really dumb.)
Now, I head right back out to chiarOscuro in DC. :)
