Today's revelations:
  • Scream isn't as funny as I remembered, but it's still funny.
  • My truck's trip meter is flaky again.
  • Springfield Mall is a terrible place to run out of gas (after relying on the trip metter), as there are no gas stations within at least a good mile radius of the mall--which is not a small facility.
  • After asking employees of Arby's, Bertucci's, and the Mall Information Desk, and having Mall Security reject a request for assistance, it was a long walk to the first gas station I was able to find, after using a few stretches of road not intended for pedestrians.
  • There are two adjacent Shell stations on Loisdale Rd. in Springfield; one of them had a loaner gas can that was locked in the shop, the next had small ones for sale, so I bought one (and some gas at over $1.70/gal) and trekked back. Took over an hour for the round trip.
  • Stomach says: Jerry's Subs & Pizza in Springfield Mall isn't a good place to eat.

Thursday work: Successfully finished wiring up the alarm system I started Wednesday, only to find that one of the components had failed, as had its replacement. Hope we have another one! (Also, it turns out that the drywall by the lab door won't hold up to the onslaught of two of our larger techs and one of the larger guys from training wrestling and running into it. ;D)
Friday evening: Meeting up with Mike Hedrick, Kenny Peskin, JuanFe Rincon, and possibly some other Seal & Serpent brothers and friends at a sports bar in Clarendon/Arlington. Should be fun!

Work involved other people figuring out what the hell was wrong with the devices from yesterday, fixing one, replacing another, rewiring a bit, all that kind of jollity.

After work, Nathan and I took the dogs to the dog park, which was fun--lots of dogs, lots of people, and entirely too chilly for my camera hand, but I got a bunch of pictures anyway, to be posted later. :)

After returning from that, we drove up to Mister Days Sport/Rock Bar in Clarendon to meet up with Mike Hedrick and possibly [JuanFe, Regan, Dylan] for a Guys' Night Out (or "Welcome Home Scotter" (ha!)). Turns out the other guys couldn't make it or didn't return messages, so it was just Mike/Nathan/me. We hung out for a few hours, had some beers, split a huge plate of nachos, had burgers, were deafened by the steadily-growing crowd and the host of basketball games showing on the wall, admired various attractive women, and eventually went our two separate ways. :)
