Tiny Pepsi cans: It's funny 'cause it's true. :D

So quotable! )

Last night I dreamed that I weathered a tornado while in the local mall (which was a cross between the actual local mall and the U.S. embassy). In this dream, though, I thought that I'd actually dreamed it (sub-dream!), and when I woke up (still in dream 1) I couldn't believe it had actually happened, so I checked it out online (still in dream 1) and found that it had, in fact, happened. This waking and fact-checking occurred more than once. And eventually, I woke up for real, and thought this was pretty weird.

From [livejournal.com profile] gothiccripple: Washington Post contest: Write a rhyme with the most romantic first line, but the LEAST romantic second line.
Example:
-Roses are red, violets are blue, sugar is sweet, and so are you.
But the roses are wilting, the violets are dead, the sugar bowl's empty and so is your head.

USA Today Offbeat: Woman: God sent me to get a free car. And this is from Manassas/Woodbridge, VA--right near home! :D

From [livejournal.com profile] ernunnos via [livejournal.com profile] abz6958: Match.com has a physical attractiveness test! I think I'll take it when I get home. (Sample results in John's journal here.)

Through a comment to [livejournal.com profile] sebatical's traffic rant: Wrecked Exotics, "the internet's largest collection of exotic car crash photos." Woo!

  • Ron & Dave back from NZ, no commentary on their trip.
  • Got a fair bit of work done today.
  • Ron mentions that I might be leaving within the next few weeks, as the team needs to get smaller--not everyone stays to the end, and lucky me, the first to go. Bah.
  • On the way home, headed for grocery store, stopped at pet store instead--Jillian recommended, and Friday things stay open late. Played with a gorgeous, friendly rainbow lorikeet that a salesman had out for some other customers, who ended up putting a downpayment on him (and I got photos); played with a blue-fronted Amazon named Astro who was younger, not as social, but still friendly to me, got a photo; played with the shop dog, Missy, who was adorable (but no photo, batteries died); assisted the bird-buyers with advice, had a good old time. Learned that they were originally Croatian, and found Americans very friendly and talkative, with Aussies more reserved.
  • Outside grocery store, chat with some random girl by the bike rack who's waiting for a ride. She was born in Chicago, but moved here quite young. We chatted for a good while, I shopped, we chatted a bit more, I rode home. (I also ate a Violet Crumble, which seems just about identical to Crunchie--honeycomb in chocolate.)
  • Replied by phone to Jill's message asking how tonight's logistic would work; I planned to shower, dress, ride to Tilley's. Liz is on her way into town by bus, and they were to pick her up. However, another call from her explained that Liz will instead be coming to my hotel, and they'll pick us up from here. So!
  • Later, Cube. :)
  • Update: Call from Liz, who's taking a bus in from Woden, and expects to be less than an hour--good, plenty of time for me to actually shower and whatnot. :)

Photos of birds forthcoming later. :)
