Semagic 1.3.9.6 is now available. I can't use it yet, as I'm 10,000 miles from my Windows machine, and iJournal is currently beating xJournal for features and functionality. :)
Last night, went over to Jillian & Oscar's to meet Kit (m) and watch a few old episodes of Kath & Kim, a strange but amusing Australian TV show--filmed in a handheld-camera pseudo-documentary style that actually fooled some less-than-clever people into thinking that it -was- a documentary. I'm also told that people like those portrayed in the show do exist, which is a little scary. :) As it was raining at a good clip when I went to leave sometime around 1am, I opted to sleep on theirfuton lounge instead, and go back to the hotel in the morning before work, which I did.
Nikon tells me that the reason I'm having difficulty transferring pictures off of my camera is that their software isn't as compatible with Panther (OS X 10.3.x) as it should be. Thus, I should ignore the documentation that says "use this transfer method, not the other one" and use the other method--and not have the Nikon Transfer functionality until they fix things up. iPhoto might still work, though, but I do like Nikon View's features better overall.
Update: Huzzah! Setting it to Mass Transfer (instead of Picture Transfer Protocol) made the computer recognize it as an external drive, and copying the photos over manually was easy. (However, neither piece of software will automatically transfer them at this point.)
