The drive home was very long. On 95S, there were warnings before exit7 (over 50 miles away) of a 10-13mi backup at ex1; the same warning appeared around ex4. Seeing nothing, we opted to ignore it.. and just past ex2, the backup! All due to the tollbooth, nothing more. 13 miles of backup because people can't drive through a tollbooth interchange. People suck. Similar backups at the next two tollbooths in DE, similar lack of reason. This also meant that every service center preceding the tollbooths were similarly busy. We left LI at 1615 on 7/6, and arrived in Manassas at 0130 on 7/7. (Note that this should be 7-hr trip! The rain didn't help, either.) We chatted with Shauna for a while, grabbed some more stuff to move, got back home around 3am, made the bed, and crashed.
Monday (7/7): Slept in; worked 3-close. Testing the new commute, left a bit late, got there a bit late-er. Not too busy, but understaffed in that it was me and Amanda, the wearing-the-petsmart-shirt-but-still-training-a-lot new associate. She majored in herpetology and science education, so she knows reptiles cold, but still not so much on the other animals or store procedures. As such, it still took until about 11 to get out. I stopped by my parents', grabbed another box of stuff plus some food--EZ-Mac++ and some leftovers--and headed back to Lorton. Chatted with Nathan for a while, had some lasagna, and crashed eventually.
Come morning (7/8), we slept in, poked at Cox.net and found I couldn't do anything w/o being Nathan, poked at the computers and modem again, and lo, my computer connected! 'course, I don't yet know how to have -both- comps on at the same time, but we'll work on that later. :)
Today, I still need to shower and eat and such, then go back to Manassas, get stuff, and have Melody meet mom (and maybe Steph/Brendan if they're around, etc, etc.)
But I'm back online! Couldn't get a connection before, but it worked today--power-cycled the modem instead of standbybutton-cycling it. May have to pay Cox for 2-computer access, not sure.
