It was nice out this afternoon (mid-40s-ish), so I did some of the work on my truck that's been pending for a while.

  • Changed the oil, about 4100mi since last change. (5qt)

  • Topped off the oil in the transmission--the one that took 1+ qt last time, and took another qt this time, in all its 3qt-capacity glory. Guess it was a little low, eh?

  • Topped off oil in front and rear differential (1qt between them)

  • Checked transfer case fluid level, which was high enough that, given my truck's rear-sloped attitude on the driveway, spilled out a bit before I could get the plug back in. Oops!

  • Then I discovered the adhesive holding my driver's-side mirror on was coming loose. This is the mirror that took a beating from the ground a couple years ago that only cracked the glass, at wihch time I added a replacement mirror over it.* This time both pieces of glass are coming loose, so I'll just replace all the nicely cracked glass with a new piece.

    * Actually, it didn't occur to me to just replace the glass, so I ended up spending $25-$30 at a salvage yard getting a replacement mirror frame/assembly, before discovering a) I couldn't remove the bolts on the old one anyway, and b) replacment mirror glass is only a few dollars and includes adhesive. So. :)
