Overnight schedule
Feb. 9th, 2003 04:57 am1850-1900: Invited by
damienden and
skeeter800 to come visit them at MWC (in Fredericksburg, where she goes to school and he was visiting), for dinner and ice skating. Dinner's just going on the table here, so I decline dinner but accept for ice skating.
1900-2000: Eat dinner, explain plans to parents.
2000-2100: Drive to F'burg, meet Laur[a|en] (skeet) and her roommate Alie, see D for first time in ~5 years. Parked in "24/7 Staff Parking, Towing Enforced", but was told it'd be fine.
2100-2245: Drive to Iceoplex. Ice skate. No size 13s avail. for D, but 12s fit him ok. No 10s for me, but 11s fit if cinched as tight as they go. Skeet doesn't skate often; D hadn't skated in 5 or 6 years. I skate a couple times a year, so I maintain a level of "decent". :) D improved significantly over the course of the evening. It was "Band night" at the rink, so there was a loud, subdecent band playing on the upper level of the place. In general, good time had.
2245-0343: Hang out in Skeet/Alie's room. Watch MadTV and SNL. Adjourn to basement lounge when Alie goes to bed. D & I get foot massages from Skeet, which rock. Chat about rock climbing, scuba (and get invited to join her and her friend Kelly on May 20 for a trip to Cayman or Caribbean, I forget)), programming, relationships, all manner of stuff. Eat some Bugles. Call it a night, as Skeet's falling asleep and I have to drive back to Manassas--told parents I'd be back "later tonight". A shame, as I'm told I should meet their friend Kelly, who'll be back on campus today (Sunday). Another time, perhaps--and perhaps when I can take the bike, as Skeet and Kelly both want to see/ride it. :) Find two almost-identical parking tickets on truck, with different Violation Numbers but identical Remarks, $25 each. (Perusal of the back once home indicates that one is for "Fail to register or properly display vehicle decal", the other for "Parked in Reserved Parking Space". Does this sound like double jeopardy to anyone else? Worth appealing, when the appeals forms are only available at the MWC Police Dept? (Skeet said she'd pay any parking tickets that showed up, given her assurance, but I think I'm in a better financial situation to do so.)
0343-0440: Drive back to Manassas, post. :)
Still intend to write up Friday night in more detail, but that can wait until "morning". :)
