It's snowing here in NoVA, and has been for several hours.. accumulation of at least 2" at the moment, 4-8" forecast for a wide band just east of the Blue Ridge mountains, from far SW of here up through MD/DC into Delaware.

It's quite pretty.. very fine snow, glittery on the windshield as we were driving back from dinner. Forecast to keep falling through about noon; several school jurisdictions cancelled a while ago--including, at that time, PW but not Fairfax, meaning (were I still at TJ) school but no way to get there (an excused absence, in that case.)

(Dinner was quite tasty; I got pork chops, sweet potato, cinnamon apples, and a 22oz Amber Bock. Dessert of egg-free (Brendan's very allergic) chocolate cake w/coconut frosting--not German Chocolate, as I'd thought--was also quite good.)

Then I replied to a bunch of comments, chatted with Jen Ma for a while, spent a few hours in #lj_support (new time-wasting hangout!) and now to bed, to be at work at 7 despite snow accumulation.

And it'll start with the Friday Five, 'cause it's about food--I wasn't going to do it, but I'm currently jittery-hungry, so it gets done.

1. What did you have for breakfast this morning? If you didn't have breakfast, why not?
Didn't eat until 11 or 1130, when Ross came back from Shoppers with four bundt/pound cakes for the employees. Had a slice of Dutch Apple, slice of Raspberry [something], A&W root beer (and I think it's neat that they got rootbeer.com :), and some Frito-Lay snack mix. Healthy, eh? (Didn't have time to eat before work, especially since I had to remove lots of snow from my truck before leaving.)

2. What's your favorite cereal?
I like lots of cereals, but I can eat Frosted Mini Wheats every day all summer, and have done so. (Of course, the fact that it was the cheapest cereal at Wegmans when bought in bulk helped--even cheaper than generics.)

3. How often do you eat out? Do you want that to change?
Rarely.. maybe a couple times a month. I like eating out, but I don't like paying for it--and don't generally have the money to spare. Maybe later, though.. :)

4. What do you plan on having for dinner tonight? Got a recipe for that?
Um.. if I eat before I leave for Baltimore (around 6 at the latest), something quick. This is likely. Otherwise, something at whomever's house I'm meeting people for Carrie's birthday clubbing.

5. What's your favorite restaurant? Why?
Erm.. there are lots I like. Unos, Casa Chimayo (local Mexican restaurant), Johnny Rocket's, come to mind. Good food, fun atmosphere, etc. Good selection of quality beer helps, too. :)

After work, visited Target/Spencer's/Gadzooks/Toys 'R' Us looking for cheap rave-style lights, failed in that attempt. (Spencer's had one that I could find, but it was a crappy design and was missing its packaging--didn't feel like asking for assistance; don't feel like paying for Photons or the like. Maybe I'll just design some of my own, build 'em into gloves or something. :)

Should check/refill transmission fluid in my truck before I drive to Baltimore (~70-90mi one way); have been asked to shovel/salt the front walk/sidewalk before the current spread of water freezes in 16-20F temps overnight.

Since a couple people on my friends page have done this and it's kinda interesting, I will too:

Who do I know from the 15 20 users most similar to me?

My transmission has been whining lately; likely culprit: low transmission oil

Just added over a quart of 80W oil to it, and it's still not up where it should be. Um, oops. That'd make a whine, indeed, and eventually grinding and permanent damage. I know it leaks, so I should really check it more often.

And, since I'm trying to be an hour and a half away in 30-90 minutes, I should get going. And grab some portable good on the way out, 'cause I feel like I'm on uppers at the moment, I'm so jittery*. It isn't pleasant. :P

* Almost said "kittery", but I doubt I'm feeling very similar to [livejournal.com profile] kitters. Care to comment? *grin*
