Went out to lunch at IHOP with all the partiers still around at noonish, or twoish, or whenever it was; hung out around the house for the rest of the afternoon with Beth/Mike/Rob after everyone else went home. Left voicemail for Jon to figure out when he was showing up; he called and scheduled his arrival in Watertown at around 6pm. Around 6:40 he called again, saying he was just leaving--meaning we got to watch all of the X-Files episode; he didn't actually arrive until around 7:30 which meant we got to finish watching Futurama and a few minutes of Greg the Bunny.

Anyway, off he and I went, into the rapidly darkening evening.. the road dragged on as we were both quite tired already. After listening to a wihle of less-than-interesting NPR, he hooked up his mp3 player through the tape deck and we listened to the entirety of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, as read by Douglas Adams. That took us right back to here, where we'll shortly be sleeping. :)

All in all, an excellent extended weekend. :)

Realizing that I'd started to forget the particulars of some screen names on my buddy list--real names, for example--I decided to follow a friend's example and add the real name of each person on my list to the "Buddy Comment".
Of course, this doesn't work when I've temporarily forgotten a name entirely, and have no one to ask, but I got most of 'em. :)

Also, I took a bunch of photos of my room as I'm moving out forever, and have since taken all the posters down--an immediate appearance of greater Emptiness. (Hey, at least it -looks- less full, even if it's psychological.)

So, my mom has to find out about the motorcycle pretty soon, since I'm taking it to VA at the end of the week. Suggestions from my sisters were "tell her ahead of time, let her cool off, then bring the bike home." From friends, "Ah, just tell her when you get there." Just now, from my dad, "Well, you've kept it from her this long, might as well just tell her when you get home."

It won't be fun, that's for sure. But I am coming from a year of no accidents, careful riding, and judicious use of protective clothing.. shouldn't be too terrible. :P

My maternal grandfather was in New Mexico after the trip he made that included a stop in Ithaca; went out with another family member to a garage sale, and bought the garage (with attached house). Returning home to Florida, he put his house on the market and signed a contract with the first person who came to see it. My grandfather is an interesting man.

This means that both he and his wife will be much closer to family in NM, he adores the country out there; she's not fond of it but is moving because she loves him--and you better believe he'll be reminded that's the only reason she moved out there, every day.

Also, my mom sliced her finger on a nice new kitchen knife the other day while cutting chicken, which just didn't want to stop bleeding, so she spent the evening in the emergency room but she'll be fine--doesn't even hurt much, since the knife was so sharp.
