Despite the fact that I was in a computer lab from 1930-0030. (And despite apparently missing a meeting for -another- group, this one to finish the lab writeup started Saturday afternoon. I didn't know about this meeting, and couldn't make the one after class Tuesday morning. However, I'd already done a good bit of work for it, so they suggested I just buy them drinks sometime. :)
Met my book-chapter-presentation group (includes Faith, who I complained about previously with regard to the recent homework problem, and Hong-Fan, about whom I've complained many a time with regard to our MEng project) to work on said presentation, which is Thursday, and our chapter summary (handout for the class) was supposed to be submitted to the prof on Sunday; we started it tonight.
I organized the three of us, wrote the concise summary, let them write the more in-depth summaries of the chapter, and then combined and edited them into a complete, readable document. I like copy-editing for form and feel, but not content. This was a good task for me.
At 0030 it was complete and emailed to the prof, and all is fairly well.
Also, at 20, I called Jen from the lab and we talked for a bit, until she had to go get ready for work.
Then I get home, and decide to break down the stacks of cardboard scattered about, but it doesn't occur to me why people might have wanted to get to the particular closet behind where the cardboard was.. until I went upstairs, and found that I'd just missed a 2-hour long 15-Minute Party. So, I made myself a teacup of Kahlua and Baileys, and came upstairs. :)

* A tradition in my house.. from time to time, not very often, some brothers will decide to have a small party. They will fetch all manner of alcohol and glasses to the Hall of Fame (our front hall) and run about the house banging pots together to summon everyone for a 15-minute party, just for the hell of it.
They occasionally run long. :)

There was still a good bit of chatting going on -outside-, so I put sandals on and went back down to investigate.. what we had was Alan (sober), Jon Peck, Tom Campbell (the source of the party, I learned), Nick G, and Tarah (a boarder), all in various states of inebriation--particularly Tarah, who still plans to get up at 0545 to go do ROTC stuff with Zeke. We'll see about that.. of course, Zeke was still up (and drunk), as were Sean and Joel.
Anyway, hung out with the people downstairs for a while, on the front porch, out at the hammock, in the front hall, amused by Tarah's drunkenness--wrestling Jon, running from Nick, sitting by and leaning on me, hiding in the coat room, all kinds of fun, all the while making sure that Alan was going to get her up at 0545.. I had good chats with Tom and Jon, before everyone finally retreated to their rooms (and Alan took Tom home) and I came back to here, soon to bed. :)

Ever heard the urban legend or Darwin Award about the guy who strapped a JATO rocket unit to his car, fired it up in the desert, and ended up a few miles away plastered into a mountain?
I found a link in another community to a story (a really -long-, but interesting, story) purportedly by the guy responsible for the origins of the story. True or not, it's a great read. :)
Rocket Car

Y'know..

Some people just shouldn't be able to choose their kids' names.

Jen, there are boys named Timberland in this article. :)

What does Israel say gives them the right to control Arafat/Palestine? (Most recently, "Arafat isn't allowed to travel to the conference", "Arafat should be exiled", and "The U.S. Envoy isn't allowed to meet with Arafat".)
(I'm just trying to understand the situation, not taking sides.)

MAE463 Lab (due Thurs): Abstract completed and sent to labmates
MAE514 Chapter review & presentation (Thurs): Professor-revised handout showed back up in inbox, revised it, printed and stapled many copies, sent back to groupmates. Finally received presentation file (email attachment delays something terrible lately), reviewed, printed my slides. Arranged meeting with group for tomorrow morning (0810! Damn, that's early, but we have class at 1010 and presenation at 1140)
MAE570 chapter reading and problem set (due Fri): Nope, not yet.

Update to 570: Sweet! Only have to read 15 pages of the chapter, not all 70!

Note: Damn good thing, too. Took me almost an hour to get through those 15 pages. I'm not too fond of this book. :P
