I didn't get to sleep until about 0230 last night, set my alarm for 0930, and woke up around 07.. tried to get back to sleep, but couldn't sleep for more than half an hour at a time, so I got up around 0830.. caught up on email, LJ, and comics, before jen got to a computer to reply to some email and comments. Showered around 10, talked to jen a while later, and now I'm off to be late for class.* Or stop by the post office. Maybe both. :)

* Jen: Wait.. what time is your class?
Scott: ...now?
Jen: I'm not talking to you any more! Go to class!

At least someone's looking out for my academic habits :)

Excellent!

My FEA (Finite Element Analysis) class is one I've often complained about--I don't like the material taught in lecture most of the time, or how it's taught, so I'm frequently late for class, if I go at all.. I pick up the handouts because they're there, though they've yet to prove useful. I then read the book, do the homework, and generally do quite well.
Just got my midterm back. Out of 125 points, the mean was 96, and I got 113. :)

When the partner is an incompetent slacker, that's why.

So I have this large problem set (worth 1.4 regular homeworks) due tomorrow, assigned a month ago, that we started yesterday. True, unwise. But after some work, we realized that it was a feasible amount of work for two days' time, assuming both people do equal work.
But was there an even distribution of work? Of course not.
I did about 70% of the conceptual design, 80% of the hand-written work overall (including redoing some of her drawings), and ~80% of the CAD work, including redoing part of hers and printing out scads of drawings.
This does not make me happy.
However, it's all mostly done. Just need printouts of her parts of the drawings, and her files to put on disk with the rest, after which -I- can number all the pages and complete the table of contents, and it'll be finished.

And -then-, -I- get to make sure that the 3-person group (also including her, and my MEng partner of whose work I'm so fond) gets our presentation ready for Thursday, which should in fact -already be done- and submitted to the prof for approval.
*sigh*

Oh! And this girl isn't doing very well in the class, despite "trying", she says. Got almost the -lowest- score in the class on an assignment or three. And has demonstrated apathy towards the class in my presence. It's no wonder she does poorly, really.
