Also:
  • Most upstate NY drivers suck, and don't know how to use passing lanes properly.
  • Umberto's car's CD player can play mp3 CDs, and he scratched his car once because he was fiddling with file folders on his car stereo and ran a bit too far off the road.
  • I was only ~100 journal entries behind.
  • I only got 4 pieces of email that weren't junk, LJ comments, or mailing lists.
  • I still have to take out the recycling for tomorrow morning (now done, with Neal's help).
  • Apparently I can do a decent Irish accent, which was probably greatly aided by my viewing of The Crying Game the other night. :)
  • Of course, -now- Lake Placid will have temps in the 20s and 30s for the next week.
  • Apparently it was almost 60 here in Ithaca earlier, and now it's 26 and snowing.
  • Mad skillz?

Tugboats really aren't supposed to be able to do this. :)

(All praise to [livejournal.com profile] nighthawk for the link)

I go away for the weekend, and people have birthdays!

Happy slightly belated birthdays, Michael and Abby!

I acknowledge that the law is for vehicles to "yield to pedestrians in your half of crosswalk", but have some damn respect for the drivers of the vehicles. Just because you can step out in front of a moving vehicle and they must rapidly brake to avoid running you down, doesn't mean you should.
    Additionally:
  • If there's a crosswalk, use it, and don't cross against a solid Don't Walk sign. These are commonly referred to as "jaywalking", and are illegal in most states.
  • You are not a bicyclist, don't walk in the bike lane.
Thank you for your consideration in this matter.

P.S.: Try living in a major city where cars stop for nothing, and maybe you'll learn to stay on the sidewalk until it's actually reasonable to cross.

You are a vehicle, and are required to follow all traffic laws, including (but not limited to) riding on the right side of the street, signalling turns, and obeying traffic control devices (stop signs, lights, etc.)
Thank you for your consideration in this matter as well.

    Hmmm..

Some interesting rationale behind Morpheus's latest rapid forced upgrade:

These attacks have forced us to more quickly deploy our new software product in order to allow you to bring the largest p2p community back together. Since it appears that the attack on your computers came from the closed proprietary FastTrack-Kazaa software, we have opted not to continue with this p2p kernel. We believe it to have the ability to access your computer at will and change registry settings. In addition, we remain committed to NOT bundling any spy ware with our product.

(More info on the attacks and software on their site.)

While traveling to and from Whiteface this past weekend, on of the CDs Umberto had was by a group called E-Rotic.. fun Eurodance, with entertaining lyrics and a healthy overdose of blatant sexual innuendo. :)

(Other tracks include Willy Use A Billy...Boy, Fred Come to Bed, Sex on the Phone, Help Me Dr. Dick, Fritz Love My Tits, and Gimme Good Sex, to name a few. One of their Best Of albums is called Greatest Tits. :)
