and the weekend thus far

picked up esther around 11:30, went down to the Commons for the Ithaca Apple Harvest Festival--lots of artisans, performers, and food (including cider and caramel apples, of course).. took her back home at 2ish cuz she went home for the entire week (yes, break is only through tuesday, but some holiday (Rosh Hashanah?) is next weekend and she'd like to be home for that.. went back downtown and heard the Purple Valley Band perform ("dancin' blues", they call themselves), followed by Sunny Weather (roots rock, reggae, and zydeco), bought SW's 1st CD (I already had the 2nd)... Bria and her friends finally showed up around 6, i drove her to the bus station to pick up her friend Emily (visiting from Mt. Holyoke (Amherst, MA)).. visited with them and friends for a few (turns out one of Bria's friends was one of my OC freshmen, in fact one of the few I took to a party the first night ;), then went home for a couple hours.. then picked the lot of them up again around 10 to go see Purple Valley perform at the Rongo, which was fun--though underattended, cuz Cornell's not here--and I got to swing with Bria and Emily :). Sunny Weather was also performing Sat night, in Interlaken, but I wanted to swing :) So when we got bored there we all came back to Ithaca and to Bria's room, where we all hung out for a couple hours, then everyone split. 's'why I'm writing this at 4am :)
oh, there's a nice telescope for sale at the optometrist's on the Commons.. Meade TeleStar Model 114AZ, 4.5" Astronomical Altazimuth Reflecting Telescope, D=114m, F=910mm f/8, being sold for $195 cuz it's a demo.. I'm willing to go that extra bit into credit debt for that if it's a good deal, but the thing is, I can't find a damn thing about that telescope anywhere on the web..
