Zinck's night, late-night groceries & TV, dream recap, and hands-free badness
This past evening featured International Zinck's Night, locally hosted by the Cornell Club of Washington at Ireland's Four Provinces in DC. Nice place, that--Irish-themed, a variety of good beers, live folk music partway through the night--with plenty of Cornellians, and even some Cornell songs in the middle. :) I knew several people, almost exclusively from Old Rag hikes--both Eds, Heather, Natasha, Bob McK, and a couple others whose names I can't remember--and met several more, most from the early- and mid-90s. (And lemme tell you, a kilt is a conversation-starter. :D) Eventually the crowd dispersed, and I walked to Metro with one of the guys I'd met, fell asleep on the Blue line, and made my merry way back home.
(And then I received half a dozen poor-reception phone calls from Nathan, helped him unload a whole lot of groceries, watched CSI, and then the Twilight Zone (The Obsolete Man.) I should probably get to sleep, too, since I have to be in Ashburn by 09ish.
Last night, I dreamed about motorcycling in the European countryside or thereabouts, a birthday party for Mike Hedrick in a cafe where Phill was also a guest, and Mike's own motorcycling..
