TruckLugNuts, +4 Ferrets, LauraPlans
I don't feel bad that I was unable to remove the left front security lugnut with the key. My dad was likewise unable, via a) the regular means I'd tried, b) a small impact wrench, and c) a couple of large sockets hammered onto the nut in an attempt to grip it, splitting one socket in the process. Neither of us felt bad, then, when it took our neighbor several tries with his pneumatic impact wrench plus the key. However, by the time we got that one off, I'd discovered that the other three were removable by normal means, and now each of my wheels has four old, rusty chrome lugnuts and one shiny new chrome lugnut. :)
In the midst of that I had some dinner--grilled salmon!--and afterward watched some TV with family; afterwards I called Chris and went over to his and Misty's house to collect the ferrets. Fortunately, the cage fit neatly into my truck with no disassembly, the ferrets in a jumble in a cat carrier on the passenger seat, and their cage is now sitting neatly in the corner of my bedroom. (It was good to see Misty and Chris again, too--hadn't seen them in a while--and I got to admire their recently-repainted-by-them, recently-refloored, soon-to-be-recarpeted, soon-to-be-sold townhouse, which is the reason I'm a ferret caretaker. :) Thus, Brutus, Pandora, Daisy and Druena have a new home for the next few weeks--photos are sure to follow. :)
Laura called minutes after I walked in the door--oh yeah, I need to move my truck out of the street!
Ok, back now. She called to determine details of our outing tomorrow; the final decision seems to be: I ride my motorcycle up to her house in NE DC mid-afternoon, along with an extra helmet/jacket/gloves; we ride out to Wolf Trap to see Guster, Ben Folds, and Rufus Wainwright, of whom she is familiar with none; then we ride back down to my house to visit animals; then I take her back home. Whee!
(An unfortunate aside, which is part of why she's been so busy lately: She goes back to school in Oklahoma in 2-3 weeks. Bah. :P)
