Went to the Fyshwick Fresh Food Markets with Jillian & Oscar. Imagine a three-sided shopping center, entirely comprised of grocers, butchers, cafés, sidewalk vendors, and the like, hawking their wares, haggling, and dropping prices near day's end. Pretty neat, though I'm not sure I can see it as the kind of place I'd shop regularly for my groceries--though end-of-day closeouts features some pretty remarkable deals. (I also had lunch while there--tomato & ham pizza, a bottle of pear juice, and later a can of Passiona passionfruit soda. :)
In a little while I'll be rejoined by Jillian, Oscar, and Kit to go to the Australia Day festival on Parliament House lawn, featuring announcement of the Australian of the Year award, followed by two hours of free concert by some of Australia's hottest performers, none of whom I've ever heard of. :) And we shall take a picnic dinner with us--part of why were were shopping in Fyshwick earlier.
You all should read Buttercup Festival. At least, you should read it if you enjoy warped humor, non sequiturs, and Death. And possibly dead rats, dirt clods, strange messages, shambling zombies, spicy relish rockets, sandwich love, and heroism.
